Sounds Like Summer

These aren’t clouds, these are blankets;
But these blankets don’t keep warm.
And all the times I thought I’d made it
Are the times that I found storms.

All these monsters in my closet
Have got me so awake at night;
And all the times I thought I’d lost it
Are the times it turned out right.

October got me down,
But your eyes get me high.
You don’t know me half as well as I’d like to know myself,
But that’s okay.

It sounds like summer with the stereo loud.
I’ve gotta find another way to keep you around.
You’re the only reason I made it through the winter.
I need one more season of you and I together.

I love the sound of tires on pavement
When it’s oh, so wet outside.
If there’s a shot, you know I’ll take it.
I’ll grab my hat and hold on tight.

I love to say your name.
It’s stuck inside my brain.
You leave Sunday, and you know I don’t wanna say goodbye
To your blue sky.

It sounds like summer with the windows rolled down.
I’ve gotta find another way to keep you around.
You’re the only reason I made it through the winter.
I need one more season of you and I together.

It sounds like summer with the stereo loud.
I’ve gotta find another way to keep you around.
You’re the only reason I made it through the winter.
I need one more season of you and I together.

It sounds like summer,
Summer time.
